Jay Jay Okocha

Augustine Azuka Okocha, born August 14, 1973, commonly known as Jay-Jay Okocha, is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He played 73 matches for the Nigeria national team between 1993 and 2006, scoring 14 goals. He won the 1994 Africa Nations Cup, second place in 2000, and third place in 2002, 2004, and 2006.

He also won the Olympic Gold medal in 1996. Okocha was a member of three FIFA World Cup squads for Nigeria. He is regarded as one of the greatest football players in Africa.

🔴 Jay Jay Okocha's club football history

Okocha played with European and American clubs such as Borussia Neunkirchen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Fernerbahce, Paris-Saint-Germain, Bolton Wanderers, Qatar SC, and Hull City. He played in 454 club matches and scored 95 goals.

He was fond of dribbling, as were Ronaldinho, Messi, and other dribblers. One of his famous skills was the Okocha turn, where he would roll the ball away with one boot, then fake a move in one direction before quickly turning in the other direction, leaving a defender dazed.

🔴 CAF appoints Jay Jay Okacha

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recently appointed Augustine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha as its ambassador, along with El Hadji Diouf from Senegal, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, and former Egypt midfielder Ahmed Hassan. He has been selected and is considered to be high-ranking for excelling in sporting and career achievements, social impact, and commercial value.

His responsibilities as ambassadors will entail, beyond the pitch, involvement in tournaments, charity initiatives, commercial events, and other social activities.
